Aim to make 500 m area around Taj mahal litter free and phase out single use plastic.
- Administered a pledge to Agra residents by Union Minister for culture
- The pledge is called "Taj Declaration to beat Plastic Pollution"
- The pledge was made in presence of UNEP execurive Director and Goodwill ambassador
- Declaration came ahead to World Environment day, June 5th 2018.
About Declaration:
- Before the declaration was undertaken, workshops were conducted to deal with problem.
- Major focus of workshops is to curb littering around 17th century monument.
- Short term and long terms plans are worked upon
